Ghost Protocol — Reverse Pac-Man: You Program the Ghosts

About this game

Ghost Protocol is a free online maze game played from the wrong side of the maze. You do not control the yellow one — he plays himself, hunting pellets, reading the danger around him and running for a power pellet when you corner him. You control the four ghosts, and you cannot steer them either. Instead you write their behaviour: each ghost carries an ordered list of IF/THEN rules, and at every junction it reads its own list from the top and executes the first rule that matches. WHEN he is near, WHEN he is powered, WHEN I can see him down a corridor, WHEN few pellets are left; THEN chase him, cut ahead of his current direction, flank with the red one, guard a power pellet, hold my corner, block the pellets, or stand perfectly still. The four famous ghost personalities are not given to you — you assemble them, and order matters because the first match wins. Since ghosts move at exactly his speed, four ghosts all set to chase will never corner him; catching him needs a cut-off, and that is the whole puzzle. Rules can be rewritten mid-round, so a run becomes a live argument between your protocol and his pathfinding, and power pellets flip the board — he hunts you, and a caught ghost walks home. Each level he gets faster and sharper. Free, no download, no signup, English and Hebrew, and it plays entirely by tapping — there is no code to type.
