Rune Dungeon is a free online pixel adventure where the times table is not a test — it is the magic system of the world. You play a young mage exploring a top-down 8-bit dungeon room by room, and every part of the world runs on multiplication. Monsters attack by casting number curses: a goblin throws 6 × 8 at you, and you break it by casting the right answer from four spells. Locked doors are rune gates carved with a number, and they only open when you are carrying two rune keys whose product matches — a gate marked 63 opens for the keys 7 and 9. The dragon guarding the exit keeps a shield that only missing-number riddles can crack: 9 × ? = 72. Along the way you collect a Potion of Ten that turns the next curse into an easy ten, and a Shield of Sevens that absorbs one mistake. Three design choices make it a real game rather than a worksheet: a wrong answer costs a heart and never ends the run, there is no timer unless you choose the hardest setting, and the dungeon quietly remembers which facts you keep missing and sends those monsters at you more often, so the practice targets your actual gaps. Four difficulty settings from the 2, 5 and 10 tables up to 12 with a timer. Eight hand-built rooms, all verified reachable and every rune gate provably openable.
